Who I serve
Built around two specializations. Open to anyone who values them.
As a Certified Financial Planner professional, the clients we serve best tend to care about two things: building a retirement income they can rely on, and leaving something meaningful behind. If one or both of those goals resonate, we're more likely to be a good fit.
Specialization one
Retirement Income Planning
Retirement isn't about having enough money, it's about making sure the right money arrives at the right time, in the right account, for the rest of your life. This is where I spend most of my time, and where a financial plan either earns its keep or falls apart.
CPP timing strategy
When you start CPP is a permanent decision worth tens of thousands over a lifetime. I model every scenario so you start at the right time for your situation, not the default.
OAS optimization & clawback management
For higher-income retirees, poorly sequenced withdrawals can trigger OAS clawbacks that cost thousands per year. I structure your income to minimize this.
RRSP/RRIF drawdown sequencing
The order you draw from registered, non-registered, and TFSA accounts has a major impact on your lifetime tax bill. I build a sequence that minimizes tax and maximizes what you keep.
Pension integration
For clients with defined benefit pensions (OTPP, OMERS, OPS, federal), I coordinate the pension with CPP, OAS, and personal savings into one coherent income plan.
Maximizing lifetime tax efficiency
I look at the full arc of retirement, not just Year 1, and structure income to keep you in the lowest possible tax brackets across every chapter.
Specialization two
Legacy & Estate Planning
A financial plan that ends at death is an incomplete plan. How assets are titled, who the beneficiaries are, how the RRIF collapses, how the business is structured, these decisions have lasting consequences for the people you leave behind. I coordinate the planning side of this work alongside your lawyer and accountant so nothing falls through the cracks.
Beneficiary designation review
Outdated or misaligned beneficiaries on RRSPs, RRIFs, TFSAs, and insurance are one of the most common and costly oversights in estate planning. I align them with your Will and your wishes.
Tax-efficient inheritance strategies
I structure your portfolio and drawdown to reduce the tax impact on your estate, including strategies around the deemed disposition at death and spousal rollovers.
RRIF collapse planning
When a RRIF collapses at death without a spousal rollover, the full balance is added to income that year. I plan for this well in advance so it doesn't surprise your family.
Coordinating investments with estate wishes
Your portfolio, your Will, and your beneficiary designations need to tell the same story. I make sure they do.
Charitable giving strategies
For clients who want to leave a meaningful gift, I build tax-efficient giving strategies that maximize impact while minimizing the tax cost to your estate.
The clients who tend to resonate most
Two communities where the fit is consistently strong.
These specializations connect with a wide range of people, but through experience I've found two communities where the fit is consistently strong.
Tradespeople & business owners
25 years of work, coordinated into one plan.
If you've spent decades building something with your hands, a business, a reputation, a retirement nest egg scattered across three institutions, I connect every piece into a written retirement income and estate plan before you step away from the tools. Business equity, corporate retained earnings, RRSPs, the timing of the sale, all of it.
Learn morePublic sector & pension employees
A planner who actually understands your pension.
If you have a defined benefit pension with OTPP, OMERS, OPS, or a federal plan, you have a significant asset most advisors don't truly understand. I do, I worked at OMERS before I ever sat across from a client. I integrate your pension with CPP, OAS, and personal savings, help with the commuted value decision, and coordinate survivor benefits with your estate plan.
Learn moreIf you fall outside these two groups but the specializations resonate with you, a physician planning a transition out of practice, a corporate executive with complex compensation, a business owner approaching a sale, I'm happy to have the conversation. The Intro Call costs nothing and commits neither of us to anything.
